Oh So Good

The name of this café says it all. It really is oh-so-good. 

Specialized in cakes and cheesecakes, they also make pies, tarts and now cupcakes! 

It's a cute, charming place; very student-date kind of vibe. 

Here's what I picked: 

Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake

I lived a little with this choice. Normally, I would've picked the classic New York style cheesecake. BUT I was very pleased with this choice. Delicious! The slight sour taste of the lemon and blueberries complement the cheesecake beautifully. 

Chocolate Mousse Cake

A classic; melts in your mouth. 

You should all try this place at least once. It's so funny how you will NOT be able to make a choice. I bet you'll want to taste them all.

Les 3 Brasseurs

This is a great place to get freshly brewed beers. It was first established in France. I love their white beer here. They have: white, blonde, amber and dark beer. Also, beer cocktails which are delicious. I had the panaché last night: blonde beer with sprite. So summery and refreshing. 

Onto the exciting things! I was bored and wanted to try a dessert. I chose the gauffre liégeoise. 

Quel délice!!! This waffle is crunchy, fluffly on the inside, caramelized, and plain WOW!

How can you resist this? 

So ladies, next time your man wants to go get a beer, you can go have a waffle.

Moxie's Part 2

So I mentioned my love for Moxie's a few posts back. Here are some other photos. 

Wasabi tuna tartare

This is really good. Doesn't taste like the ultra pungent wasabi though (which is good). Just a slight taste. However, they should really cut the tuna in smaller pieces. They were HUGE!

White peach bellini

Heavenly drink that tastes like slush. Which is pretty much a rip-off - meaning, it won't get you tipsay. Good thing is they're on special on Wednesdays. 

Perfect-10 martini

Little pretty girl with her strong manly drink. 100% grey goose vodka - NOT for me personally. 

Honey roasted garlic sirloin 

Served with stuffed baked potato (filled with a blend of cream cheese, green onion and bacon... MMHMM!) and your choice of green side. This is our FAVORITE meal here. SO delicious. Explosion of flavors. You've never had a steak taste so good. Seriously. 

The tasting trio

A trio of their 3 bestselling desserts: chocolate espresso mousse, sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate brownie. Served with chocolate biscotti and vanilla ice cream.

Mahi Mahi

What's for dinner tonight? 

Almond-crusted mahi mahi served with mango salsa and quinoa

This is the first time I made anything "crusted". My technique needs some practice, but this was really good.

I LOVE this salsa. Wow. 

Remember: Work with what you have at home. Mom had just bought a whole case of mangoes. It inspired me!
